Description
I took this photo at the Southern Rim (most tourist visited site) of the Grand Canyon. Although it looks like an HDR (High Dynamic Range photograph created of several different exposures), it is only a single photograph but I used the most up-to-date techniques to make it appear as a full dynamic image. For that, of course, the exposure has to be just right as well. On the lower left quadrant of the image you see the winding nature of the Colorado River, the river responsible for carving the beauty of the canyon so deep. The colors of the rocks represent different layers of deposits with different minerals and organic materials from the various era the area changed through as it evolved to it beauty today. Some of the layers belong to the era of the dinosaurs as well as some when the canyon was an ocean front property.
.................................................................
The Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon is a very well developed area with thousands of tourists every day and all time of the year--albeit it does get extremely hot in the summer and quite cold with snow in the winter. This picture was taken in October, which is an ideal time to visit: fewer people, children in school, and neither cold nor hot. I was only there for one day this time and took many hundreds of pictures. here you see 7 of them combined into one. Enjoy the gorgeous view!
