Autumn Sunset Berries

Title
Autumn Sunset Berries
Artist
Angela Stanton
Medium
Painting - Oil With Palette Knife
Description
Originally inspired by a photograph I took during a gorgeous sunset with blazing red skies. The photo looked nice but nothing special, so I decided to use it as reference to paint it (digitally) using a software that is able to reproduce real brush strokes--or in this case palette knife very precisely. If you click on the image, you can see full details of the digital canvas and the digital palette knife at work. The colors are the same bold colors as in the original photo albeit the photo is not part of the image at all. If you prefer a less abstract version of this painting, please view the blue version which has the photo superimposed on it for a bit more detail. This is a fully hand painted version with only the colors remaining as vivid as in the original photo that inspired it.

Why digital and not "real"? I am a "green" artist. I had my share of oil and tempera (my favorite mediums) for a number of years in my youth but as my children were born I realized how much toxic materials I am working with! I now paint nearly exclusively digitally. The effect is nearly the same without harming the environment as intensely as oil paint does. I hope you agree that art remains art regardless if digital or oil on canvas.
