Beautiful Costa Rica Rain Forest is from memory. I recently visited Costa Rica and spent a week in the rain forests. I was totally mesmerized by the lush beauty, the wildlife, sounds, smells, and textures. It was always misty or raining and wet everywhere. I did not have a day of dry hair. It was the most wonderful environment. In this image I combined three images that I have photographed originally. One I took from a hanging bridge from the canopy view of the rain forest. One at a place called 500 steps (yes, 500 steps down and 500 up... painful!) that took me to a waterfall with a lake surrounded by the rain forest, and the third is the misty volcano Arenal in the background. This particular location, as is, does not exist. But this reflects the feeling I had when I was standing in the rain forest on the hanging bridge--outside of the fact that you can barely find your balance on one of those bridges. The sights and sounds are amazing. This is a heavily textured painting with brush strokes and impasto style oil here and there.

This is a digital hand painting. The benefit of buying a digital painting is that when real canvas paint is shown on Fine Art America, it is only a photograph of the art, so its textures will be blobs and mellow shadows. When it is digital painting, you get the actual original digital image with its textures well pronounced.

Real oil art photographs printed on canvas have no textures; they are flattened out completely so you end up with flat art for both touch and look. With digital art the canvas print retains the textured look. Even when an art piece is digital crayon or chalk or pencil, and so no bulky textures, the crayon's oily slick, or the hardness or softness of the chalk or the scratchiness or smooth blending of pencil lines show exactly the same way on the print as on the original.

When ordering prints of art, you receive better quality prints from digital art than from photographs of real canvas or paper art!

Digital art is also safer to the artist and the buyer since oils release toxic fumes, particularly as the colors are mixed. The thinner is also toxic. There is nothing toxic about a digital painting. :) Enjoy!
